EAST LIVERPOOL - The investigation into Friday night's attempted armed robbery at the Dresden Avenue Uni-Mart gas station is still underway.

East Liverpool Police Department Detective Don Fickes released two additional surveillance video images Wednesday showing more of the would-be robber's face.

Fickes said anyone with information should contact the police department.

"I'd say he's a local person," Fickes said. He based that assumption on the fact the suspect fled on foot through alleys and roadways and appeared familiar with the area.

The gas station surveillance tapes show a man entering the Uni-Mart store at approximately 11:07 p.m Friday. According to the police report, the attempted robbery began when the suspect placed a black, semi-automatic handgun on the counter.

The male clerk asked, "What can I get you?" and the suspect answered, "How about everything," before displaying his firearm on the countertop.

At that time, the clerk notified the masked gunman of a car that just pulled into the lot. The suspect pulled his gun back and looked away.

In the video footage, the clerk's hand can be seen reaching over the counter and grabbing the gunman's zippered hoodie and pulling the suspect forward. After the worker was able to get two hands on the gunman, the suspect backpedaled and dragged the clerk fully across the counter and onto the floor.

Both men returned to their feet and moments later, the clerk shoved the suspect out the door causing him to fall backwards onto the outside walkway.

According to the detective bureau, and information gathered from residents, the suspect fled east on Poplar Lane, north on Green Lane and then east across Clayburn Place. He was last seen on foot on Lincoln Avenue.

Fickes said the suspect is in his late-20s, about 6 foot tall and weighs between 165 and 185 pounds. He was wearing light colored jeans or gray pants with white shoes during the time of the attempted robbery. The white male was also wearing a black hoodie, winter hat and a scarf or mask.

Fickes said several people have been questioned about the attempted robbery. Anyone with additional information may contact the East Liverpool Police Department at 330-385-1234.

Good luck with this!!

The EL police dept. can not solve cut and dry murder cases let alone an attempted robbery.

Who are you kidding??

But if there was "something" in it for them, well... then that is a different story.

Really? Name one recent murder that hasn't been solved by ELPD! If you are talking about the Tweed murders, my friend that was in the early 70's and not one member of the current ELPD was working yet. I think you need to get your facts straight before posting BS lies.

Oh yeah care to elaborate on the "something in it for them" comment? I would love to hear some more BS.

Okay. I did not post this for people to bash the E.L. Police Department. We all need to do our part. The public can offer some of the best information and I for one hope that someone with real information will do just that!

I would NOT vote for Det. Fickes even if he were the ONLY name up votes. Thank you very much.
And I for one have my own OPINION, and I have NO respect for the EL police dept. or the "work" that they do. Name one good thing that they do?? I just really have no respect for them, one bad apple spoils the bunch!

Its a shame you feel that way about ELPD. I am sure you don't ever call for their help either when you feel like a victim of something. One "bad apple" doesn't spoil the bunch because they are all different types of Officers. I don't know who you are refering to as the "bad apple", but I for one have called them with problems and they have helped me. By the way, ever heard of Shop with a Cop? Thats when they take needy children from the EL area on a shopping spree. Approximately 70-80 children from the area were helped to have a better Christmas this year, thanks to the ELPD. So I guess there is your "one thing" they do good. What is "one good thing" you have done to help this area? Good luck to you!

You are clueless. And I am sorry but there are way more than just "one " bad apples from my point of view. And El police dept would be last on my list of calls for help. I am GLAD that I dont live in EL it is a disgrace. And as for shop with a cop, Do you know who that benifits? It benifits all the loser so called "parents" to go out and spend their money on alcohol and drugs and lets someone else fit the bill for their kids christmas, its a shame but its the truth. I mean come on, Christmas comes every year at the same time. Save your money and dont but your cigaretts and alcohol or drugs and give your kids a christmas instead of relying on someone else to do it for you. That is ridiculous. So why dont you just step off your little EL Police Dept band wagon and enter the real world of crime and corrouption and see things for what they are worth. And please dont tell me that you are proud to live in that delapidated city.
